Toronto - 8pm March 29, 2008

Canada embraced darkness and Earth Hour 2008. Toronto flicked the switch to support its intentions to reduce climate change. And for that one hour on, Saturday 29 March, Toronto’s citizens saw all their most famous buildings cast in a completely new light: City Hall, The CN Tower (the highest building in North America), Ontario Science Center, Ontario Place, Honest Ed’s, Toronto Eaton Centre, Harbour front buildings, Exhibition Place, Yonge-Dundas Square, Sony Centre, Pearson International Airport, Roy Thompson Hall, Air Canada Centre, Hockey Hall of Fame, Roger’s Centre. Toronto Financial District, Queens Park and Royal Ontario Museum, all supported Earth Hour by turning off their lights.
And to celebrate the new hue of dark, Canadian Nelly Furtado lead her compatriots in the Earth Hour party at Nathan Phillips Square – and all by candle light. On March 29, 2008 Canadians stood proud for their hard work in taking a stand against climate change.
