The lights are all out over the Nation’s Capital. The National Gallery of Australia, Telstra Tower, Australian Institute of Sport Canberra and Theatre Centre are all cast in darkness Earth Hour 2008. And Canberra is throwing a party to support this great cause.

With the city dark, there is really no better opportunity to watch a movie about the fictional end of the world due to climate change. Shedding light on the issue, the movie is showing now in the Garema Place Civic.

Acoustic music by The Big Score, Jonathan Mettes and others are entertaining the crowds. Want to be the next Australian Idol? Canberra’s the place to be tonight – we’ve got karaoke by candlelight. Restaurants and pubs all over the city are flickering by candlelight as those who seek a low key night enjoy a new found lighting scheme. And for all you sports fans out there – even the Canberra Raiders game is participating in Earth Hour!
